BRIDGEWELL TRUST

Bridging resilience with resources.

About Bridgewell Trust

Bridgewell Trust is a private community fund addressing poverty and housing instability across Virginia. Founded in Richmond by local businesses and social entrepreneurs, the Trust delivers targeted, rapid-response financial assistance and capacity-building supports that move households from crisis toward stability. By pairing disciplined stewardship with community-centered innovation, Bridgewell Trust bridges immediate need and long-term resilience.

Families may apply to the Board for short-term support including food, clothing, emergency financial aid and bridge loans, healthcare referrals, and mental-health services. Bridgewell Trust is funded entirely by monetary donations and volunteer time; accordingly, assistance is offered at low or no cost in exchange for a modest commitment of volunteer service. Requests are reviewed by the Board to ensure resources reach those with the greatest need.

How the Bridgewell Process Works

  • A confirmed case manager must submit your name for referral to our intake board. Your case manager will send you an application form to return to info@bridgewelltrust.com.

  • Once your application is reviewed, please attend a virtual interview to confirm your identity and review the terms of the program. The interview ends with a decision on your application and information on the next steps.

Email interviews are available for those without reliable internet access who’s identity can also be verified via digital copy of an ID and the referring case manager’s verification.

  • Once the application is approved, the applicant must also agree to the terms of service. After carefully reading the agreement, the applicant will sign and return to the Bridgewell Trust. Funds will be dispersed on the date and time set in the agreement for services.
